A popular and critical hit on Broadway, this sharp-witted sequel to Ibsen’s realist masterpiece begins with a knock at the door. Some 15 years prior, Nora walked out that same door, leaving behind her husband and children to pursue a life as a fiercely independent woman -- a sure shocker in the 19th century. Now it's revealed that she's been busy writing scandalous novels that encourage women to break free from the bonds of marriage and find their own destiny. When a powerful judge blackmails Nora, she comes home to ask for help from the very family she abandoned. Coming to the Leo K. Theatre, the Seattle Rep's production of "A Doll’s House, Part 2" is a blistering and very funny meditation on marriage and the high cost of personal fulfillment -- and you don't need to have seen the original Ibsen to thoroughly enjoy this play, dubbed "explosively funny" by the "Hollywood Reporter" and the recipient of eight 2017 Tony Award nominations. Lewis, Vince Lombardi, Christopher Marlowe, Stephenie Meyer, Molière, Sylvia Plath, Raymond Chandler, Paula Vogel, Kurt Vonnegut, Oscar Wilde and, of course, Agatha Christie. [less-]

ComedySportz is Seattle's leading improv comedy show. Two teams battle for laughs and points as they make up scenes, games and songs on the spot, in the spirit of TV's "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" A referee governs the action, calling fouls and keeping the match moving at a blistering pace. The audience is always a part of this interactive, family-friendly show, and audience volunteers sometimes even wind up on stage. It's perfect for dates, a night out on the town, or even quality time with the family, since kids love it as much as grown-ups. [less-]

A 19-year-old man has just stood trial for the fatal stabbing of his father. It looks like an open-and-shut case until one of the jurors begins opening the others' eyes to the facts. "This is a remarkable thing about democracy," says the foreign-born juror, "that we are notified by mail to come down to this place — and decide on the guilt or innocence of a person; of a man or woman we have not known before. We have nothing to gain or lose by our verdict. We should not make it a personal thing." But personal it is, with each juror revealing his or her own character as the various testimonies are re-examined, the murder is re-enacted and a new murder threat is born before their eyes. Tempers get short, arguments grow heated and the jurors become "Twelve Angry Men" in this classic show at the Renton Civic Theatre. [less-]
